The Vice President of Human Resources is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing all aspects of the human resources function within the organization. This executive position plays a critical role in shaping the organization's culture, driving employee engagement, and supporting business objectives through effective HR strategies and programs, with a particular focus on policy development and compliance. The ideal candidate will live in the greater Kansas City area and report to the Overland Park headquarters. Remote candidates will be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic HR Leadership: Develop and implement comprehensive HR strategies
aligned with the organization's goals and objectives. Provide strategic guidance and
support to senior leadership on HR-related matters, including workforce planning,
organizational development, and employee engagement.
2. Employee Relations and Engagement: Foster a positive and inclusive work
environment through effective employee relations initiatives, policies, and programs.
Implement strategies to enhance employee engagement, morale, and retention,
promoting a culture of respect, collaboration, and innovation.
3. Policy Development and Compliance: Lead the development, implementation, and
enforcement of HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws,
regulations, and best practices. Stay abreast of legal and regulatory developments
affecting HR practices and proactively address any compliance issues. Ensure company
policies promote diversity and inclusivity and reflect the organization’s values.
4. HR Metrics and Analytics: Establish key HR metrics and analytics to measure the
effectiveness of HR programs and initiatives related to policy compliance. Use datadriven
insights to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement in HR
practices and processes.
5. Employee Communication and Relations: Develop and implement effective
communication strategies to keep employees informed and engaged about HR policies
and procedures. Serve as a trusted advisor and resource for employees at all levels,
addressing concerns and promoting open communication.
6. Performance Management and Development: Design and implement performance
management systems and processes to drive high performance and accountability.
Provide leadership and support in employee development, training, and succession
planning efforts.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's Degree Required: A bachelor’s degree in human resources, business
administration, or a related field is required. A master’s degree or relevant HR
certifications are preferred.
2. Extensive HR Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive HR experience, with
at least two years in a leadership or management role. Trained in legal employment
practices, including ADA, FMLA, EEOC, worker’s compensation, hiring, termination,
and record keeping.
3. Strategic Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to develop and execute HR
strategies that support business objectives and drive organizational growth. Strong
strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
4. Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional verbal and written
communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with
employees at all levels of the organization. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to
build and maintain positive working relationships.
5. People Management and Development: Proven leadership and management skills,
with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop a high-performing HR team—
experience in coaching, mentoring, and developing HR professionals.
6. Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving
abilities, with the ability to analyze complex HR issues, identify root causes, and
develop effective solutions.
7. Change Management and Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced
environment. Proven experience leading organizational change initiatives and
managing through ambiguity and uncertainty.
